Our Mission

Why This Tool Exists

Across India — in newspaper composing rooms, flex banner studios, wedding card shops, and government press offices — thousands of professionals still work with software built in the 1990s. Adobe PageMaker, older CorelDraw, and regional DTP tools require non-Unicode font encoding to render Telugu script correctly.

Modern devices type in Unicode. Legacy print software speaks a different language. The gap between these two worlds costs real people real time, every single day.

"Every minute a designer spends copy-pasting into the wrong encoding is a minute stolen from their craft. We eliminate that friction — permanently."

Our mission is simple: give every Telugu-language print professional a reliable, instant, free bridge between Unicode text and the Anu Script font encoding their software depends on. No subscriptions. No file uploads. No waiting.

Experience & Expertise

Our Depth in This Niche

Unicode-to-Non-Unicode conversion for Indian scripts is a narrow, highly technical domain. We have spent years going deep on it so you don't have to.

5+

Years in Telugu Font Encoding

Working hands-on with Anu Script, Eemaata, and legacy Telugu font tables since the early 2020s — building tools, testing mappings, and refining character accuracy.

900+

Character Mappings Validated

Every mapping in our converter — from basic vowels and consonants to complex conjunct characters and special aksharas — has been manually verified against Anu Script 7.0 output.

22

Official Indian Languages Researched

Deep research into all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, including their pre-Unicode legacy font ecosystems used in print and DTP.

168

Unicode Scripts Documented

Our reference guides cover the full Unicode Standard — all 168 scripts, 154,000+ characters, and the technical distinctions between UTF-8, UTF-16, and legacy code pages.

0

Third-Party Font Bundles Distributed

We do not bundle, modify, or distribute Anu fonts. Our converter works with fonts users already own — maintaining full legal and ethical clarity in everything we publish.

100%

Client-Side Processing

All conversion runs in your browser using JavaScript. Your text never reaches our servers. This is a technical and ethical choice — not a marketing claim.

Trustworthiness

Why You Can Trust Us

Trust in a text-conversion tool isn't just about accuracy — it's about transparency, privacy, and honesty about limitations.

🔒

No Data Collection

We collect zero text input. Conversion is entirely local — your content stays on your device at all times.

📋

Clear Disclaimers

We explicitly state our tool is independent and not affiliated with AuFonts or Anu Script Manager. No misleading association.

⚠️

Honest About Limits

We clearly warn users when character loss is possible and advise manual verification for conjunct characters.

🆓

No Hidden Costs

The tool is genuinely free. There are no paywalls, no trial limits, no forced account creation, and no upsells.

🛡️

Our Privacy Promise

This converter runs entirely in your browser. When you paste Telugu text and click Convert, that text is processed locally by JavaScript — it is never sent to any server, never stored, never logged, and never used for any purpose beyond showing you the result. We do not run analytics on your input. We do not store conversion history. This is not a policy we might change — it is the architecture of how the tool is built.

Our Story

How We Got Here

From a personal frustration to a tool trusted by Telugu print professionals — the journey of Unicode to NonUnicode.

The Problem — Pre-2020

A Problem Every Telugu Designer Knows

Anyone who has worked in Telugu DTP knows the pain: you type text on a modern phone or computer in Unicode, then paste it into PageMaker or CorelDraw — and the software shows garbage. The gap between Unicode and legacy font encoding had no simple, free fix for Telugu speakers.

Early Research — 2020–2021

Mapping the Character Tables

We began systematically mapping every Telugu Unicode code point to its corresponding Anu Script character. This involved cross-referencing the official Unicode Standard, the Anu Script 7.0 font tables, and real-world output from PageMaker. Over 900 mappings were documented and tested.

First Build — 2022

Version 1 Goes Live

The first version of our converter launched as a simple single-page tool with basic Unicode-to-Anu mapping. Early users were print shop operators and newspaper layout artists. Feedback from this community directly shaped every improvement that followed.

Expansion — 2023–2024

Growing the Reference Library

We expanded from a single converter to a full reference platform — adding deep guides on Unicode vs Non-Unicode for SQL Server, SSIS data type errors, SAP Unicode conversion, and Windows language settings. Each guide was written by people with hands-on experience in the relevant domain.

Today — 2025–2026

The Standard Telugu Font Converter Online

Today, unicode-to-nonunicode.com is the dedicated online converter for Telugu Unicode to Anu Script conversion — with a comprehensive knowledge base covering the full Unicode ecosystem. We remain free, independent, and focused entirely on accuracy and user privacy.

How It Works

The Technology Behind the Converter

Transparency about how our tool works is part of how we earn trust. Here is exactly what happens when you convert text.

🔧 Conversion Architecture

Client-Side JavaScript Only
The entire conversion runs in your browser. No server calls, no API requests, no network traffic with your text.
Unicode Code Point Mapping
Each Telugu Unicode character (U+0C00–U+0C7F range) is mapped to its Anu Script equivalent using a validated lookup table.
Ra-Type Variant Support
Two Ra rendering variants (Type 01 and Type 02) are supported, matching the two most common Anu Script configurations used in production.
3,000-Character Limit
A 3,000-character input cap keeps the tool fast and prevents browser performance issues on lower-end devices common in print studios.

✅ Accuracy Standards

Manual Verification Against Anu Script 7.0
Every mapping was tested by rendering converted output in Anu Script 7.0 and comparing it visually to the original Unicode text — character by character.
Conjunct Character Testing
Stacked consonant combinations (conjuncts) are the hardest part of Telugu encoding. We specifically test these edge cases with real print samples.
Honest Error Disclosure
We surface a visible warning on every conversion reminding users to verify output — because no automated converter can guarantee 100% accuracy for all conjunct forms in every font version.
Continuous Improvement
User feedback from print professionals has been incorporated into every mapping update. Real-world use cases drive our refinements.
